Fueling the Fight

I have explained a little in the past about how Namuli Jewelry came to be and my ultimate goal for the business (click here if you would like more information). In a nutshell, I firmly believe in supporting good causes and good people. Because your support will enable Namuli Jewelry to incorporate this philosophy, I will continually posts updates showing how Namuli Jewlery is lending a helping hand both around town and around the world.

This give back was to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I hadn't really planned this one out, but it pulled my heart strings just right and I couldn't say no. Leukemia has drastically affected my life via my father's diagnosis and death in June 2010. Unfortunately, I know I am not alone in how leukemia or any other form of cancer has touched my life. I realize that many of you are probably right there with me. Since no one likes to be in the "cancer gave me and/or my loved one a beating" club, I figured Namuli Jewlery could do its part in helping fuel the fight--which will hopefully decrease club membership sooner then later.

Thanks you all for all your support!

A Couple more Red, Yellow & Blue

As promised, here are they are:

Turquoise Teardrop topped with Golden Prayer Bead on Copper $12
This turquoise tear drop bead is about 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide at the widest part of its bulge. The golden prayer bead adds another 1/2 inch. Add the copper ear wire and the total earring length is just over 2 inches. The prayer bead is hand pounded creating an awesome textured matte finish, which helps compliment the shine of the teardrop bead finish.

Ornate Turquoise Bead with Red Dangle on Brass $10
I can't get enough of these earrings! The round turquoise bead is one of my most popular beads--and the sad thing is that the place I bought it from no longer carries them (sniffle sniffle). I am searching high and low for another carrier though so keep your fingers crossed! Total earring length is 2 & 1/4 inches, the turquoise bead being a 3/4 inch circle. As you can see from the picture, the red dangle bead catches the light ever so slightly, adding just a little sparkle here and there.

Enjoy!

The Primary Colors are 1, 2, 3.....

You really can't go wrong with any piece of jewelry in a basic red, yellow or blue--or a little of one with another! Combinations of these colors will probably show up fairly often since I love them.

In the case of this necklace, I just had to use all three.

Turquoise Oval with carved Red and Yellow Accent Beads $16
The copper chain of this necklace is about thirty inches long. The turquoise oval adds another inch and a smidge. The red and yellow accent beads are about 1 cm round each, with beautifully carved flowers/tribal designs. Really unique. Really fun.

And if you would like matching earrings, take a look at these:

Red, Yellow or Blue Craved Round Bead on Copper $10
Each bead is about 3/4 inch long and wide and 1/2 thick. The carvings do not exactly match the carvings of the smaller round beads on the necklace, however they are similar enough they look great when worn as a set or alone. Super light weight (I know, it surprised me too), total earring length is about 2 inches.

There will be more red, yellow and blue combinations coming soon! Sorry if the song is stuck in your head! :)

Yes I am still here......

I promise I am not a total slacker, I've just been figuring out all the little ins and outs of starting a business. But--progress has been made! The PG Promenade went fabulously, and I am now accepting VISA, American Express, Discover and Mastercard credit, debit and gift cards. I have some stuff in Simply Splendid Boutique, which is located at 67 S. Main Street Pleasant Grove. If you have never gone to Simply Splendid, I highly suggest you do! It is such a cute place, they have really fun stuff and super yummy treats. They also serve lunch from 11-2 daily. I have never been able to be there for lunch time, but based off the rest of the store, I am sure it is delicious.

AND, as of this post, I am selling online!
so let's get to the good stuff

Translucent Green Teardrop Dangled from Bronze Circle on Bronze $8
I heart these ones. Simple as that. I mean look at that green! Beautiful. These slender earrings are 3 inches long. The hoop accounts for 1 and 3/4 inches of that, the circle 1/4 inch and the bead the remaining 1 inch. The bead is high quality acrylic, which makes for a price friendly pair of earrings that are extremely light weight.

Silver Filigree Oval with Round Burnt Orange Dangle $12
I have become obsessed with burnt orange over the last little while so you can thank my obsession for this awesome bead. Besides great color, the stone has a honeycomb pattern too. You can see from the picture that the pattern adds to the overall texture and helps to catch and reflect light. The entire earring is 2.75 inches long. The filigree oval is about 7/8 inch wide and 1 and 1/8 inch long. The round dangle bead is about 1 cm.

White Glow Ball Earrings with Ornate Top on Silver $10
I really wish you could see how cool these earrings are. The picture kind of shows it, but not in its entirety. The balls are reflective so when the light hits them just right they literally look like they are glowing. It sounds a little weird, but I promise it is so cool. I get the glowing beads from Asia, and they are one of my most popular items. I have them in a bunch of different colors too so be sure to watch out for them. Anyway-- the "glowing" makes these earrings super unique. This particular pair is about 2.5 inches long and super light weight. The long hoop backs makes them dangly, but not so dangly that they look funny. The white bead is 16mm, which is just a little bit bigger than a traditional gum ball. (sorry that is the only thing I could think of)

18" Bronze Ball Chain Necklace with Pounded Circle and Translucent Crystal $14
I have a lot of favorites, but I can honestly say this is one of my VERY favorites! It is simple but very pretty and goes with just about everything. Looks great when dressed up or down. Perfect length too.

So there you go. No more two month absences. I promise.

It's all in the works

I've repeatedly been asked the questions "how do I get your stuff?" and "do you accept cards?" over the last couple of weeks.

So here are my anwsers:

As of right now I am not able to take credit cards, but in the very near future I will be. Like very near future as in the next week or two probably. I just upgraded my phone so that I can get the Square plug in that will allow me to safely and securely run cards, email you a receipt, etc. Pretty sweet eh? You can read more about Square at squareup.com. In addition to Square, I am also working on a way for people to buy directly from this blog although I don't have a specific time frame on that.

Until then (but even after then really) I will continually post the different locations of shows and boutiques Namuli Jewelry will be available at. Right now I will still be at the Pleasant Grove Promenade every Thrusday evening, from 5-9 in the park located at 100 S. Main Street. The Promenade goes until the end of September, but because I start back to school the end of August, I am not sure if I will be able to be there every week until the end of September, however I will for sure be there every week until the end of August.

Hopefully this helps!

I got the blog up and running. BooYa! :)

You are reading the first EVER Namuli Jewelry blog post. I hope you can feel how momentous this is. Its a pretty big deal for me. Hence the BooYa.

It's a big deal for a couple of different reasons, the biggest one being that I am super excited about Namuli Jewelry.

You will notice that the three words I chose to describe Namuli Jewelry were unique, affordable and purposeful. Unique because everything is created by yours truly. There will be no buying and reselling here. Like most artists, I buy supplies and find inspiration from different experiences, people and places; which all boils down to me creating the jewelry I sell. Depending on how big of a creating bing I'm on, I'll have the bruises on the end of my fingers to prove it.

Affordable more or less speaks for itself. I'm a frugal girl. I love hand-me-downs and can bargain shop with the best of them. The same goes for my jewelry--minus the hand-me-down part of course. Earrings are $6-$12 with an occasional $14 pair here and there, necklaces are $16-$18. In order to keep prices low, I don't use sterling silver. Most of my earring backs are brass or surgical steel. I do have sterling silver backs on hand that I can switch out for anyone that needs/wants them, The only thing I ask is that you pay for the cost of the backs in addition to the price of the earrings.

Purposeful because it gives back. To make a long story short (we will get into all the details of this in another post) the idea for Namuli Jewelry started as a way to raise money to help some friends in Africa. At this point in the game, I am still trying to get things up and running, but my long term goal for Namuli Jewelry is to become established to the point that it can financially help benefit different local and global charities and grass-root organizations. Because this is my ultimate goal, I plan to incorporate that philosophy along the way so be sure to watch the blog to see what awesome organizations are benefiting from your purchases.

And now for a few pics. These are just to give a little taste of Namuli. If you like what you see, come see me at the Pleasant Grove Promenade. The promenade is held every Thursday evening from 5:00-9:00 p.m. in the park at 100 S. Main Street in Pleasant Grove. Hope to see you there!
